Mission and structure of the Northern Forum
The aim of the Northern Forum is to improve the quality of life of northern peoples by providing means to the leaders of northern regions to share knowledge and experience in solving common problems, as well as supporting the sustainable development of regions and implementing joint social and economic initiatives through an international organization. The Board of Governors includes the leading political leaders of the regions: governors, premiers and heads. In an effort to jointly work on solutions to a wide range of issues of common interest, Board members monitor the implementation of Northern Forum’s policies and, in general, serve as the basis for the organization. The Board also formally manages the Regional Coordinators Committee and the Secretariat of the Northern Forum. The Chairman of the Board is elected during the General Assembly and can perform his duties within 2 terms.
